What the AI does — and what it leaves to you

Most software that calls itself AI-assisted bolts a chatbot onto an old tool and lets you discover the rest yourself. Team Inflection uses AI for three specific jobs — the ones a company of 10 to 150 people has nobody to do — and deliberately leaves everything else to the manager.
1. Draft the role
The blank page is what actually blocks a role definition. Nobody wants to write the first version, so the role stays vague for another quarter and the Clarity Checker has nothing to check.
The Role Builder turns that blank page into a scorecard in five to ten minutes: the outcomes the role owns, the decisions it may take alone, and where it ends. You edit it, you approve it — and only then does anyone get assessed against it.
2. Prepare the assessment
Five to ten minutes per person. The AI drafts the rating and the next action with the evidence attached, so the manager opens a prepared page instead of an empty form.
That is the whole job. Not to judge, not to rank, not to decide who is ready for what: to make sure the manager has the record in front of them at the moment the decision is made — rather than a memory of a busy quarter.
It is also the only part of employee performance review software worth automating. The conversation, the judgement and the accountability stay where they belong: with the manager.
3. Remember the relationship
Every note, audit and decision stays on the person and comes back at the right moment. The follow-up you promised in a week nobody had time, the check-in after a move, the person you said you would look at again in six months.
This is the job that quietly disappears in a small company: not the decision, but the continuity around it. The AI keeps the thread; the manager keeps the conversation.
The line we do not cross
No inference from who someone is — only from what they have done. Name, age, gender, ethnicity, disability and family status never enter the record, and no suggestion is ever built on them.
Every recommendation names the capability it rests on, so a decision can be challenged, explained and repeated next cycle. If it cannot be explained in two minutes, it is not a decision we will help you make.
What the AI never does
- It does not decide who is promoted, paid or moved.
- It does not produce a rating without evidence attached.
- It does not run the human conversation. That part stays yours.
AI-assisted, manager-decided is not a slogan we added for the landing page. It is the boundary that makes the record worth keeping: the moment a tool decides who gets promoted on its own, nobody trusts the tool and nobody uses the record.
